Went to A-Z farm today for a preschool fieldtrip. pretty cute!
we spied tons of sheep out to pasture
we started outside, visiting a donkey, a pony and a horse.. it was windy, can you tell?!
my favorite animals at the farm, a mama with two 2 week old baby lambs.
dave got to hold lamby. i was jealous :)
dave got attacked by 3-4 year olds wanting to smoosh the lamb he was holding
lily looooved the lamb. it said the most perfect Baaaa i have ever heard, right in her face.
lamb snuggles
bunny petting frenzy

baaabbbyyy bbbuuunnniiieeeeess. they don't look as tiny without a size reference here, but they would have fit in my hand.
chicken!
this was a...something? a little hen of some sort?
there were also more bunnies, more sheep, turkeys and lots of other poultry bird animals, but i didnt take pictures.

bye lamb!
farms are fun!

"Baby you can drive my car"

Lily loves to sit in daddys car in the driveway and change the radio stations until she finds something she likes, then she turns it up. waaay up, with all the windows down. It's usually something awful to listen to. Today it was something country, followed by some more station changes to find black eyed peas.. she likes to try to make dave laugh, and she always succeeds. There is a video of this, but i'll spare you, since there is audio, and it's obnoxious.

Charlie tried out a swing at the park today. He thought it was only sort of okay... Until.....
Big sister came to push him. I didnt get a good happy picture of either of them, but he was laughing hysterically while lily focused really hard on swinging him gently

Dinner & Bath & Bedtime, and I've got to handle it alone even though it's Dave's day off because he got called in for dinner service. Lame!

Last night was all about making spaghetti and meatballs with the little chef.

Daddy caught a few pics of us making the meatballs, I think he was amazed because it's so unlike me to be touching raw meat without gagging. I'm learning to be brave so Lily doesn't have the same aversions I do.
Lily was TOTALLY into making meatballs. I'm going to have to think of more foods that we can make in ball form.
I make totally silly faces to compensate for dirty kitchen.

Charlie found his feet a few weeks ago. They are best friends now. They are always there for him, they wiggle around to entertain him, mommy doesn't take them away for being "not safe" like other fun toys, sometimes they have super fun socks on them (fun to remove, that is), and, most importantly, they can go in the mouth. Best invention ever.

We have a new fountain! (Thanks papa and rara)

Lily loves it! Prettier pictures some time when I have my camera (dead battery!), it's not raining, and its not freezing outside!

Also, Happy Birthday to my bff Coral. We may have lived across the country from each other for the past 6 years, but I still love you like a sister. It's hard to imagine that the high school friend who shared giggles about boys, ditched classes for beach days and had silly too-much-junk-food sleepovers with me is now someone I can confide in about childbirth, baby poop and the stress of being a wife and mother. I love you forever. I know our girls will grow up loving each other, even if they can't see each other every day.

Rainy saturday. Wish we could have gone to farmers market, but we didnt think it would be very responsible to drag two kids around in the chilly rainy morning.

So, we stayed home. Lily and I did pedicures and snuggled. We changed bedding and read a lot of books and Charlie took a TWO HOUR NAP in his crib.

Then we decided to make pizza for supper. I bought a premade crust because Im just not that brave yet.
Lily picked provolone, mozzarella, shredded chicken, gorgeous little multicolored tomatoes and some parmesan. After I convinced her that stale jellybeans weren't a good addition, things went really smoothly and she basically did the whole thing herself.
Okay, I'm not going to become a food photographer, but let me tell you, yum. These were seriously the best tomatoes ever.

Charlie "ate" half of a banana and FLIPPED OUT when it was all gone. I use the word "ate" loosely because 6 month olds get a lot more food on their bib/highchair/floor/head than in mouth.

My day, in no particular order: groomed dogs (even made time to bathe my Bailey, and Auntie Tami's Margot, too!), got Lily to preschool, showered, picked up a few things at neighborhood garage sales, coffee, laundry, dishes, snuggled my baby a lot (he was in a strangely extra needy mood for a lot of the day), returned some emails, got Lily to take a successful nap and i'm sure lots more.

I'm not a fan of this type of day because I'm rushing around busy all day and then looking back can't figure out where all the time went. However, I love that mixed in to my busy day we're those fabulous moments of snuggling babies, of reading Lily her current favorite book about how vegetables grow, of wandering out to the freshly April-showered garden to let lily pick out some flowers to enjoy inside.
fleur!
Bailey helped us select flowers. We are trying out the long shaggy look. I'm not sure we like it.
Outside is the only place Lily and Bailey can really be allowed near each other without him flipping out at her :(
No surprise, Lily's bouqet is mostly yellow! I snuck in a branch of apple blossoms that she didnt pick for the bouqet but it smells SO good!
Lily INSISTED she needed fruit salad for supper (Then she was hungry and wanted to steal Daddys sandwich after work). I helped her make her banana into an octopus. It was her treat for making the fruit salad "herself". Obviously I supervise, but she scooped her cottage cheese, plucked all the grapes and rinsed them, and sliced the strawberries (yes, with a knife. It's super carefully monitored)

Tomorrow- possibly Farmers Market. Unless it's raining a lot. We'll see.

I only took one picture today, of a pile of (clean!) diaper laundry.
and maybe I could have gotten away with just posting that.. something about the funny joys of domestic life and how one of my favorite "chores" is diaper laundry.... except our friends Katherine and Milena totally one-upped us and posted an amazing photo shoot in their garden of line-drying diapers out in the sun.

okay. fine guys. you win! you are better at diaper laundry than me!

so here is lily, at 2 years old, being ridiculous. yes, thats a lampshade on her head.
tomato hat! as seen on Charlie at the Farmers Market this past week (click here)
tomato face
i think this might have been "i'm a little teapot" but it looks like "i have a bum!"
