I'll preface this by saying I've never actually SEEN Charlie roll, scoot, or do anything resembling moving aside from random flailing.

but I know he can. because everyday.. at some point...Charlie enters:

I set my baby down carefully on a nice soft blanket with plenty of interesting toys to look at.

do something that requires my attention for 10 minutes

and TA-DA! he's completely the other direction, kicked booties off, wadded up blanket, unsnapped his shirt and flung toys around

And he is SO pleased with himself.

Much more relaxed day today.

Story time at city hall. all the chairs/tables are moved away because they got to play with a giant parachute today. i so vividly remember how magical that was as a kid.

3-5 year olds are not great at duck-duck-goose.

lily and bitty baby Jill matched today. So cute.

My baby boy is 4 months old today!

we were reminded of an important fact:

on a side note,

lily and i got our hair done yesterday.

can i just say, Rock N Glam salon on Grand Teton is AMAZING. I cant believe how great they are with lily! they make her feel like such a princess!

we've been trying to spend more time at liliana's. customers LOVE seeing her and she loves being there (for the most part). Its not really an ideal setup to hang out in a messy office, a dangerous commercial kitchen or out with customers in a fine dining restaurant for hours on end. anyway, the office is getting a makeover at some point in the near future because at the very least charlie needs a safe place to nap.
The post-it says "baby on floor", in case people weren't sure what was going on (the post-it went on the door to keep people from charging in. i wound up not having the guts to actually leave him in there)

I'll be honest. This baby is a struggle. I love him. I really, really love him. But I've had some of the most trying moments of my life since his birth.

The dark times are really dark and we've cried together, a lot.

But the bright moments are so so bright. The first few times he smiled I cried at the thought that someday a normal happy baby will come out. Someday we will have more happy than sad. Someday I'll forget those dark times and only remember smiles and chubby cheeks and his warm fuzzy head. Someday.

But today HE LAUGHED! and really, if a sound could sparkle it would have.

It was THAT GOOD.

Happy Valentines Day!

I saw Dave a little bit, but mostly spent my day with my two little Valentines. We had a delicious tiny cake from Rolling Pin Bake Shop . Yum!

Later we watched a Piglet movie. I wanted to watch some of the Classic Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but we only had an empty case! I looked everywhere and couldnt find it, and had already promised lily we could watch it, so I resorted to the Piglet movie, which was not great. She loved it anyway, but was really confused about Pooh's obsession with honey, and they whole honey pot concept.

We had peanut butter, banana and honey sandwiches for dinner. Yum!

One year ago today I found out I was going to be a mama (again)

I liked the idea of another baby, but I had no idea what to expect next. I didn't know the pregnancy would be so different, or his delivery such an amazing experience. I didn't know I'd be mama to a son. Or even HOW to be a mama to another baby. I didn't know he'd have colic and reflux. I didn't know Lily would be such a great big sister, but of course she handles everything with such ease. I didn't know that having a baby NEED me so intensely could form such an intense bond.

It's a journey and we've stumbled (a lot) but we're in it together, and we love each other a lot.

One Year Later, 3 months, 3 weeks and 4 days since we met our baby boy.

preschool valentine's party today. so cute! they also performed a song about one of their topics this month, kitties. so cute!

Auntie Tami came over tonight. Lily picked out some pajamas to snuggle in while we watched peter pan. She came up with quite an ensemble!

Dave's day off is usually a lot of things. Fun, productive, tiring. Today it was also the cause of this super long blog entry. We pack a lot into our days with Daddy, and I happened to have my camera along for the ride (with a charged battery, even!)

We started with Story time at Fitchburg Community Center. My coffee was too hot to drink at the beginning, so I was cranky. Things improved after coffee.

Story Time brings out a silly side of lily. (yes, shes wearing jeans like a normal kid, she loves them, i'm not ready for it yet)

Lily's friend Gabriel was there. He is lily's age and they've known each other since they were about one month old, he has a sister really close to Charlie's age, so while it's nice for them to see each other, it's even nicer to visit with his mom, since we are both going through the OMG.TWO.KIDS.WHAT.WERE.WE.THINKING!?

Like always, there was a fun art project. Lily and daddy decorated a rain stick!

Daddy said he was going to tape lily.. she was not amused.

We ran a lot of errands picking up donations for Mad City Mardi Gras and so Charlie spent a lot of time in the ergo carrier today. I love it. Love.

we stopped in at Chocolate Shoppe for ice cream because, well, it was there and we had a long day.

at home, the busy day caught up with my sensitive little Charlie, so back in the carrier for some snuggle time with mom. I was glad to have my hands free to help chop veggies and assemble sushi. Yes we look gross. It was a long day.

Before bed we put together valentine goody bags for her classmates.

and we made our snack for the valentines day party for tomorrow. heart shaped red peppers, mini mozzarella, and tiny yellow tomatoes. (there's a frilly topper thing in the middle of the heart.. in this picture it looks weird and black and bug-like, but i assure you its blue, plastic, and not gross),
