I was really really missing San Diego this morning as I shoveled our walkway (and harrumphed at the jagged lump of ice at the end of our walkway that refuses to melt or be shoveled or do anything other than be a liability for a customer to trip/slip on!!)

So heres where I'd rather be today:
Hello dreamy sunday, lets go to Oceanside beach. With my babies. 76 degrees in January.


Yep. That spot next to the pier. We can watch surfers and fishermen and seagulls and the lifeguards are nearby.


Let's bring grandpa because he's very fun.


And Grammie, because she's not scared to pick up sea creatures exposed by the low tide.


We won't forget our cool baby ray bans.


And we'll bring along our BFF Hannah because she's got all the cool sand toys and makes awesome sand angels.


Oh, dreamy beach day, I love you!
Im so thankful we got to go have a real winter beach day so recently, but I think it may have spoiled me a bit. Warm weather friends, wear your flip flops proudly, and appreciate how you can leave the house with slightly damp hair and it doesn't freeze into a weirdly crunchy mess.

Busy busy day of grooming dogs, running restaurant errands and tending to sweet kiddos. And oh yes, unpacking, doing laundry and tidying up after a long trip away. You know, the usual. Anyway, I had to laugh looking through my pictures from our flights to San Diego and back. You'll see why at the end. First flight with Charlie in his own seat. Aww! Happy kids!

Aww nap! If you look closely you'll see an apple tucked in by his elbow. He totally fell asleep mid-bite. He was super sleepy.


Ok, cute. Did you notice what's missing? Well, combining all our flight times, we flew about 9 hours. The pictures cover about 3 hours of cute. That's right: 6 hours of fussing, whining, fidgeting, spilling, kicking seats, obsessively unbuckling, and full on screaming. Good thing our San Diego family is so great! Note to self: I need to remember to document the FULL story during these trying experiences!

Back to wisconsin! Just in time, because the lucky kiddos got a new session of swimming lessons as Christmas gifts! They learned so much this summer so we are really excited to keep working on their skills and pool safety during these cold winter months. Lily is in hot pink below, working on her "ballerina arms"

Not sure if this video will load properly but if it does, she's on her back, arms at her side, kicking her feet to go across the pool. Lots of coordination for a little one!

You'll notice there are no pictures of Charlie. He cried "mommy" on and off the entire class. I couldn't risk being seen trying to get a picture and spiral him into total meltdown. Between flying all day yesterday and this being his first class without mom or dad, he apparently didn't like it so much. I'm sure he'll get over it and super love it soon. We are so thankful for the opportunity to keep our littles active and swimming safely all winter long! Also, thankful to be home in our own home and our own beds. We love home!

dont have time for a long post but we are in san diego enjoying warmer temperatures, missing the first big snowfall of the year in wisconsin (WUHOOO! no shoveling yet!)

and yesterday we went to Disney's California Adventure. We'll go to Disneyland a little later in our trip. fun!

lily and i had a girl-date to the salon to get our hair done. she asked to have "just the little endies cut" and for "curly girly curls"
