Had to go to a Disney store in San Diego for an ariel costume.

They had a magic mirror where you could talk to your favorite princesses.

Enough said.

My little princess obsessed girl got to go to disneyland (Thanks Grammy and Grandpa!)

i dont even know if words can explain how thrilled she was!

the more surprising part of the day was how much fun charlie was! i thought we'd sort of tote him around but that he wouldn't get much out of the day.. i was wrong! he danced to the music in all the rides, waved "hi!" to the characters in It's a Small World, napped nicely in the stroller, and enjoyed the meals and lights and everything.

lily's main interest was if she was going to meet any princesses, and while we didn't promise anything, we really hoped to get a chance to see ariel (her FAVORITE!)

so we stood in one of those "i must really love my kid to put up with this" lines, and lily had her first Disney Magic moments.

Cinderella and Belle were OKAY, but OMG ARIEL was the big deal!

mickey mouse ice cream. i love that my mom can not resist buying one of these every time we go :)

lily liked the white rabbits house, but was really irritated that no one answered the door.

we were like the clown car of the teacup ride. there were 2 or 3 people in each of the other teacups, then the ride ends and out pour 5 of us, it was a little comical

Thanks Grandpa John! We had an amazing day at Disneyland!

the crazy heat wave finally started to let up a bit so we headed to the beach to enjoy the comfortably warm weather.

ever since charlie was born i've felt like i need to make a trip to california and dip my baby in the california ocean. lily first came to the beach when she was just weeks old, and as a california girl, it just felt wrong that my little water lovin baby has never splashed in the salty water and wiggled his toes in the sand.

oooh how he wiggled. i set him down by our beach blankets and before i had time to drop my diaper bag and grab my camera he was off, crawling his fastest toward the ocean.

my boy was very contemplative about the beach (probably wondering why the heck we live in wisconsin)

and he splashsplashsplashed until he was so cold his lips turned purple and his toes were prunes.

and my lilypad hopped and splashed and squealed and shrieked up and down the beach.

so, it was a ridiculously hot 103 degrees in san diego annnnddd a generator blew in our neighborhood! no air conditioning was brutal so we ran away to the mall.

charlie played like a real little kid!

we went to the disney store to let lily try on princess dresses. despite the cinderella and tiana dresses being way cuter, she still desperately wants to be ariel :)

9-26-10

safe and sound in san diego. kids woke up early so i went for a morning walk with coral and our cute kids, then got ready and went to stone brewery for lunch with my friend andy, his lovely wife amanda, and coral and hannah.

stone was awesome. we've been before and i love the big open indoor/outdoor feel of the place. after lunch we went out to the gardens for a few minutes and it is so nice! bridges, waterfalls, beautiful plants. fun!

i flew with two kids by myself and this is the only crying that happened! i had to try to keep charlie awake in the airport on the layover in hopes he'd sleep on the long flight (he did!) and he was saaaad. otherwise, it was better than expected. lily needed a little more attention than i thought she would, charlie needed a little less, so it worked out great.

i survived!
