We celebrated the fourth of july for two days because lily COULD NOT WAIT to wear her sparkly independence day tiara.

Mom: we were catering a wedding this day and between the wedding guests and all the people we saw when we got back to the restaurant, I cant tell you how many compliments she got on this dress! Thanks!

And also, yes I know her swimming outfit is not stylish. Shes wearing a giant neon orange floatation suit AND a swim float vest. Its hideous, but it keeps her afloat while letting her use her arms and legs to practice swimming and diving.

Just pretend she's in her sweet little yellow suit with the built in swim tutu and her petal covered swim cap I ordered because she loved the one in the movie "annie" so much. You just have to pretend, because she never wears any of it. Swimming is serious business for Lily, and sadly functionality wins over fashion.

Charlie LOVES swimming. He gets excited as soon as he sees his cute little green swim shorts. I love how much we are getting to use our pool this summer! We've had a lot of bad luck in the way of broken pool parts, bad weather and busy schedules the past few summers, but the stars have aligned and aside from WAY too many mosquitos, we have been in the clear for pool use!

Lily, Charlie and daddy enjoy a bedtime book together most nights.




My little girl loves books. And library books? Oh man. Libraries mean free books, as many as she wants! And do you know about the library bookmobile? Because lily is learning all about the joys of a bookmobile, which loads up on all her favorite books and then parks literally across the street from our driveway. She can barely contain her excitement, clutching her returns, wiggling at the end of the driveway waiting for me to catch up. Bookmobile!

I am really enjoying this summer, but feeling a bit nostalgic about last summer, spent soaking up lily's last little babyisms and napping away our afternoons together. She's grown up so much this year, and I'm so so proud of her.

we are so fun, even the DOGS get dressed up to come to our pool parties.

really though, spent most of the day playing with tami and charlie and lily in the pool, we even got daddy for part of the day! we also enjoyed a very relaxed meal at lilianas, and chatted with one of our farmers about farming, cooking and all the problems with food industries in America (sidenote: YUM! love our Maggie's Farm Raspberries!)

Charlie is wearing an adorable whale shirt that used to be Daves as a baby, how cute!

We've been watching lots of documentaries and programs about whaling... I can't believe its still happening! I'm appalled. So my baby wears a whale shirt and I teach my kids to love whales and hope thats enough for today.
